Outdoor bouldering in Sicily with a Sicilian Alpine Guide is possible in various parts of the island. Bronte, Taormina, San Vito Lo Capo, Cefalù are the areas with the highest number of bouldering problems.
On the slopes of Mt Etna, on the west side of the most active volcano in Europe, is the capital of the deliciosu pistachio, Bronte. Next to the town, two Sicilian climbers Stefano Anile and Davide Scornavacca have developed the Boulder area called Bronte Blocks. A splendid sector of blocks of sandstone rock with intense colors flourishes inside an oak forest, among which it is possible to admire a spectacular panoramic view of one of the less populated slopes of Etna.
Nestled between the rocks of a river in Letojanni, a little village located immediately below the splendid Taormina, is the Boulder area called Golden Block. Developed by two Czechoslovakian strong climbers Jan Smolen and Lukas Cermak, who developed a number of other climbing sectors on the island, and later expanded by the well-known Sicilian climber Jonathan Bonaventura. Here you find boulder problems on an excellent lime stone but it is practicable only in the dry season.
Here you find the most recent and most popular Sicilian Boulder area on sandstone rock, Bosco Scorace, discovered and developed by two guys who will become the owners of the beautiful Polvere di stelle BnB, Davide Catalano and Giorgia Borsani. Together with the numerous climbers who flock to their BnB from all over Europe, they have traced more than 100 boulder problems for all levels.
First explored in 2011 by the Alpine Guide Massimo Faletti from Trentino Alto Adige, lands a vast area of blocks on sandstone rock with potential yet to be developed.
